What’s the Scoop

Artist Wanted to Dress The City Centre

👨🏻‍🎨 Brilliant Brighton, a not-for-profit BID representing 500+ city-centre businesses, is seeking a local artist to design banners for this year’s “Dressing the City” campaign. Building on past collaborations with artists such as Bella Gomez from 2025, Dave Pop! and Ilona Drew, the selected artwork will launch for the Brighton Festival in May, be in place for the Children’s Parade, and remain until August 2026.

The theme, “We Love Brighton,” celebrates Brighton & Hove’s vibrant, diverse and family-friendly seaside character, with an emphasis on colour and energy. Designs will feature across 14 banner locations in the city centre, welcoming the city’s 11 million visitors.

The commission fee is £1,000, offering significant local and international exposure. Submissions close at midnight on Sunday 22 February 2026. Aspiring artists.. now’s your time to shine. Read More Info.

Brighton Graduate to Join Team GB at the Winter Olympics

£250m Investment in Sussex Cancer Centre Confirmed

🏥 The Government and New Hospitals Programme have confirmed a £250 million investment to build a new regional Centre of Excellence for cancer care in Sussex. The Sussex Cancer Centre, located at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, will be transformed into a modern, state-of-the-art facility for the 60,000 patients expected to go through its doors each year. Designed with a strong focus on patient experience, care and outcomes, the centre marks a major step forward for regional healthcare.

Dr Andy Heeps, chief executive of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, said the funding reflects years of collaborative work involving NHS teams, partners, patients, carers, volunteers and specialists. A great announcement that will both benefit patients and workers.👏
