What’s the Scoop

Brighton Gin Pride ‘26 bottle revealed

🍾 Brighton Gin's back with its annual Pride bottle—this time featuring vibrant artwork by local artist Amy Isles Freeman celebrating queer female visibility. The limited-edition design is available now, and here's the feel-good bit: proceeds support Lunch Positive, a Brighton charity helping people living with HIV combat isolation through community meals and events. It's become a cherished tradition that marries artistic talent with grassroots fundraising, proving you can have your gin and support it too.

The distillery is also hosting a special event this Saturday at The Bottom's Rest pub. As they charmingly put it: they're "queer all year, not just gay for a day." More details

£1.3m investment into Brighton bin collections

💷 The local authority is throwing another £1.3 million at its waste services—because apparently, getting your bins collected reliably is still a work in progress! The cash injection will fund extra crews, shiny new vehicles, and more mechanics to keep the fleet running smoothly. They're also eyeing fortnightly collections down the line, though they're being coy about it until reliability improves. If someone could collect our recycling that would be fab as it’s been 4 weeks here in Fiveways (worth a shot).

The good news? Weekly food waste collections and recycling are staying put. The data shows residents are finally getting the message—food waste in bins has dropped from 38% to 29%—but there's still plenty of room for improvement. Over 1,600 residents have already weighed in, and they're enthusiastic about recycling, they just want it to actually work.

Burger & Beyond opening dates

🍔 Burger & Beyond began in 2015 as a street food concept, building a cult following before opening its first restaurant in Shoreditch (2018), then Soho and Borough Yards (2022). Brighton will be its fourth full restaurant, alongside "Counter" outposts in London (St Paul's, Camden Lock, Canary Wharf, Box Hall) and Manchester's House of Social.

Burger & Beyond Brighton will open on Tuesday 14th July at 56 Ship Street, Brighton,

Another 7 days straight of sun forecast

🌊 That’s right folks. It’s going to look like this for another 7 days with a low of 26 degrees towards the end of next week. Balmy. On a separate note, the new gryones by King Alfred are looking great. Hopefully they’ll protect our coast for a few more years. Read more on BHCC.
