What’s the Scoop
Women’s RWC boosts rugby participation
🏉 Brighton & Hove is truly tackling the gender gap in sport head-on! Following the buzz of the Women’s Rugby World Cup, the city has successfully turned tournament fever into a lasting legacy. Through the "Strive ’25" programme, over 2,600 women and girls have dived into rugby-themed activities, from taster sessions to weekly walking rugby.
The effort has been a massive success, with over 300 women and girls now playing the sport regularly across the city. Whether it’s improving physical fitness or boosting mental health and community spirit, the initiative is proving that rugby is a game for everyone. It’s fantastic to see the city not just hosting world-class events, but ensuring local women truly reap the rewards. It looks like the sport’s popularity in Brighton is only set to grow from here! 🤘Hove Rugby Club has been a big part of this drive in conjunction with other local organisations so if you or your daughter would like to pop down and get it a ‘try’, get in touch.
Hippodrome gets a £9.5m boost

🎭 Great news for Brighton! The historic Hippodrome, which has been sitting empty since 2006, is finally getting its groove back. Academy Music Group (AMG)—the team behind many of our favorite venues—has officially signed on to operate the space once its grand restoration is finished.
Together with Live Nation, they are pouring a cool £9.5 million into the project, on top of the £25 million redevelopment investment already underway. This iconic Grade II listed building, which once hosted legends like The Beatles and Laurel and Hardy, is being carefully upgraded to host modern live performances while keeping all its original, beautiful charm.
It is brilliant to see such a legendary cultural landmark being brought back to life. Brighton’s vibrant arts scene is about to get a massive shot in the arm! Read more about the Brighton Hippodrome.
