🌈 Keep your eyes peeled for the Thameslink Trainbow running in and out of Brighton across Pride Weekend 2026. GTR will run an enhanced train service for Brighton Pride on 1–2 August 2026, with longer trains and extra services on routes to/from London Bridge, London Victoria and along the coast, especially on Saturday. Brighton station will have a queuing system to manage crowds. Get your Pride in the Park tickets

Pride’s 35th year features Raye and Diana Ross, plus the citywide parade and other events. GTR urges passengers to plan ahead using Journey Planners, allow extra time and expect busier trains. More Pride travel info

🍺 The excellent Abyss Brewing is opening a new venue on Trafalgar Street in Brighton’s North Laine, billed as a “truly independent food and drink space”. It will host a mix of standout independent food concepts plus a broad drinks range, including Abyss beers, collabs, local wines and low/no-alcohol options, alongside an evolving programme of events and creative activity.

Designed to feel energetic yet intimate, it will reflect Abyss’s journey from a Lewes pub basement in 2016 to an award-winning Sussex brewery with a taproom in Lewes, a Newhaven summer pop-up, and strong backing to drive the breweries expansion.

🎭 Komedia Brighton is hosting an Edinburgh Fringe Preview Season from 14 June to 30 July, showcasing work-in-progress shows from 39 comedians in its intimate Studio. Audiences can see new material evolve before it heads to the world’s biggest arts festival, with a mix of big names and rising stars across styles and themes.

Past preview performers include Joe Lycett, Rose Matafeo and Ed Gamble. 2025 highlights feature Horatio Gould, Bebe Cave, Spencer Jones, Sharon Wanjohi, Blank Peng, Harriet Kemsley, Paddy Young, Tom Ballard, Micky Overman, Thor Stenhaug and Matt Richardson. 🎣 Brighton’s traditional ceremony to bless and protect the town’s fishing fleet saw hundreds gather on the seafront to give thanks for the sea’s bounty. The event was opened by Brighton & Hove Mayor Cllr Amanda Grimshaw, with prayers for the fleet and the mackerel led by Rev Buff Stone.

A highlight was the revival of historic Brighton figures John “Smoaker” Miles and Martha Gunn, portrayed by Rhys Bloy and Karen Antoni, reminding onlookers how these 18th-century bathing attendants helped transform Brighton from a small fishing village into a thriving seaside destination.
