Good morning, Brighton. Tomorrow is National Prosecco Day (yes, it’s a thing) in case you needed an excuse for a glass of something sparkly. More importantly, super low tides are upon us once again in town starting today - just gone at 5.31am (head down quickly) and tonight at 5.34pm, if you want to enjoy the sand between your toes and also in your swimming cossie.

What’s the Scoop

Sussex University Tightens Its Belt

🎓 Well, Sussex University is facing the financial squeeze that's hitting UK higher education like a cold snap in February. With student numbers down, the institution is consulting on restructuring measures that could see up to 192 of its 3,300 staff heading for the exit – though nothing's set in stone yet.

The consultation wrapped up in July, and a final decision lands with Council in October. Staff departures could begin by December or early 2027. The university's dangling a Voluntary Leavers' Scheme to soften the blow and promising to minimise compulsory redundancies where possible.

On the bright side, disability support and postgraduate supervision are staying firmly in the crosshairs of management attention, with reassurances that services will continue and individual circumstances will be considered. Full details.

Honest Burgers now available by delivery

🍔 Great news for burger devotees! Honest Burgers has partnered with Just Eat, launching delivery in seven locations including Brighton, with expansion to 36 more sites by summer's end. You can now enjoy their legendary homemade British beef burgers and signature rosemary chips from your sofa—fancy that!

The partnership taps into Just Eat's impressive weekly burger-loving customer base (50 million orders last year). As a sweet cherry on top, Honest Burgers is sweetening the deal with free delivery on orders over £10 until Halloween. View the online menu

I’m more of an eat-in type of person but great news for those of you who can’t reisist some take-out.
