What’s the Scoop

Stoney Reception

🌊 After last weekends Storm Goretti, Hove Promenade is still covered in stones, particularly close to the railings. Despite the fantastic efforts of volunteers organised by Hove Promenade parkrun to sweep the stones to the side, it’s still not been sufficient for parkrun to go ahead. BHCC are still working on a solution for the clean-up operation. Watch your footing if you’re out for a stroll.

Palmeira Square Flowerbed Regeneration

🌷 Work has kicked off to reshape the flowerbeds at Palmeira Square as part of a soft landscaping project led by the council and local partners. Informed by over 1,100 consultation responses, the scheme will refresh planting areas, improve sustainability and reflect the garden’s historic layout. Initial works focus on reconfiguring beds ahead of spring planting, with community group involvement. The project supports biodiversity, climate resilience and accessibility. Unfortunately there’s still no definite decision on the plans for the Floral Clock. Time will tell :)

Home with Private Beach Tunnel for Sale

🐇 Lewis Carroll’s rabbit hole from Alice in Wonderland is thought to have been inspired by a real tunnel beneath Sussex Square in Brighton, where he spent summers from 1874 to 1887. Built around 1830, the tunnel linked the Kemp Town Enclosures gardens to the seafront and was even visited by Queen Victoria in 1838. Bricked up during WWII and later reopened, it remains for the private usage of residents. Lucky them! You can have access too with the stunning 3 bedroom property currently on the market at a cool £1.4 million. If you fancy a drool, head over to Hamptons.
