What’s the Scoop
Great white shark gets caught by the planning police
🦈 Jungle Rumble’s 9.5-meter fibreglass great white may have bitten off more than it can chew at Madeira Drive's popular crazy golf course. Installed without permission in December, the toothy sculpture is now facing enforcement action from BHCC.

The golf course has now applied for retrospective planning permission, arguing the shark is purely theatrical seaside fun, not architectural malpractice. They're also seeking retroactive permission for a pergola and staircase. Their defence? The shark fits snugly within an established leisure landscape and doesn't upstage historic Madeira Terrace. A cheeky bit of creative pleading but let's hope the council takes the bait!
Super low tide means one thing 👣
👣 Now if you’re hankering after some sand between your toes at our usually pebbly beach then today and tomorrow you’re in luck with low tides down to 0.8m forecast (see full tide table for Brighton) so there should be plenty of sand to walk and play on.
Bear in mind that today, with a 3-4ft swell; it’s going to be rough in the water so best to either stay out the water or just remain in the shallows within lifeguard designated areas. Tuesday looks much calmer with a <1ft swell height meaning it’s much safer to enjoy the water but still keep an eye out for the lifeguard areas and any currents that still may be present. Enjoy!
