Seagull Rescue

🐦 In a feathered twist of events, a daring rescue mission unfolded on Western Road in Hove as a perplexed seagull found itself ensnared atop a building. The avian adventure had firefighters swooping in, closing down the area for some high-flying heroics.

With an aerial platform as their trusty chariot, they liberated the seagull to the delight of gathered spectators. The East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service's timely response at 5:43 pm ensured the bird's safe descent, concluding their sky-high escapade by 6:33 pm.

Sea Lanes Sessions for the Visually Impaired

🏊🏽‍♂️ Sea Lanes Brighton is proud to introduce a new series of open swim sessions created specifically for visually impaired swimmers. Running weekly on Wednesdays from 23rd July to 27th August, these sessions will take place from 11am-12pm, with the pool closed to the public to provide a calm and supportive environment.

Developed in response to the interest shown in the pilot session, these community-led swimming sessions were inspired in part by conversations around research by University of Brighton PhD student Sadie Rockliffe, whose work explores how people with sight loss engage with blue spaces through touch, sound, rhythm, and movement.
