Pride Kicks Off on Friday 1st August

What’s the Scoop
Free Kids Activities
⚽️ The Active for Life summer programme returns, offering a range of free activities for children and families in Brighton & Hove. Activities include swimming, basketball, bootcamps, and cricket, catering to all ability levels.
In collaboration with local organisations such as Sussex Cricket, Community Basketball Initiative, and more, the program aims to promote physical activity. Councillor Mitchie Alexander emphasises the commitment to removing barriers to physical activity and providing opportunities for families to engage in new activities while enjoying the city's spaces, all at no cost. Checkout the BHCC website for a full list of activities for the kids.
Could Newhaven become part of Brighton & Hove?
➡️ Proposals to expand Brighton and Hove eastwards, including areas like East Saltdean, Telscombe Cliffs, and Peacehaven, are being considered by the City Council's Place Overview and Scrutiny Committee, with discussions scheduled for July 31. The expansion is part of a larger restructuring of councils in Sussex, potentially under an elected mayor.
Brighton and Hove's proposed expansion aims to create a council serving about 316,000 people, efficiently delivering services while maintaining local accountability. This potential expansion received support in initial consultations. A petition opposing the expansion has been organised by Lewes District Council. The public consultation runs until August 25. Read more and have your say.
