Good morning, Brighton… is it just me or did the post school break-up exodus occur yesterday and everywhere is a touch quieter? Either way, it’s rather pleasant. The general buzz on the street is about The Odyssey (excellent), On The Beach (apparently excellent) and the sunshine (been excellent and looking fab again next week). So let’s stay happy and get to it.

What’s the Scoop

Brighton's E-Scooter Adventure Kicks Off

🛴 Brighton & Hove is about to get zippy! Starting Friday, 100 Beryl e-scooters will debut across 20 hubs—think seafront, city centre, and railway stations. The scheme will expand to 300 scooters at 34 locations by autumn.

Here's the good bit: jobseekers and Universal Credit recipients get free ride minutes. Safety's the priority with age restrictions (18+), speed limits (12.5 mph), pavement bans, and midnight-5am curfews. GPS keeps scooters within zones, while account suspensions threaten reckless riders.

The city joins 50+ UK towns testing this sustainable transport. Private e-scooters remain illegal, but this regulated trial offers a fun, eco-friendly way to explore the city—just download the Beryl app and away you go! Find out more about the trial

We Love Brighton Summer Hunt begins

❤️ Love Brighton? Prove it! The We Love Brighton Heart Trail launches Saturday and runs through early September—a free, city-centre scavenger hunt for all ages.

Inspired by vibrant illustrations by local artist Donough O'Malley, the trail features hidden hearts tucked into banner designs displayed in shop windows across town. Simply grab a form (or download it), count the hearts, and submit your total on the Brilliant Brighton website for a chance to win a Gift Card redeemable at 60+ businesses.

It's a cheeky way to explore Brighton's shops, restaurants, and salons while celebrating the city's character. O'Malley cleverly hid hearts throughout his artwork—some obvious, others cunningly concealed. Perfect for a leisurely summer stroll discovering something new. Entries close September 6th.

South Coast IPA Makes a Triumphant Comeback

Photo: Harvey’s

🍺 Cheers to nostalgia! Harvey's Brewery is resurrecting South Coast IPA, the beloved drop that put Brighton Bier on the map, as a limited-edition cask release this August.

After acquiring Brighton Bier's brands, Harvey's teamed up with founder Gary Sillence to recreate the original recipe at their Lewes brewery. The result? A hop-forward beauty brewed with Extra Pale Malt, Vienna Malt, Torrefied Wheat, and a generous hit of Chinook, Columbus, and Ekuanot hops—the same bright, punchy character that made it iconic.

Only thirty barrels are available throughout August at Harvey's pubs and select outlets. It's a bittersweet tribute to Brighton Bier's closure, though Harvey's has pledged to resell the brands back to the founders if they fancy another go.
