What’s the Scoop
May temperature records broken
🥵 As expected the beach was packed out over the Bank Holiday weekend as locals and tourist descended on the seafront. The UK has experienced its hottest May temperatures on record as a part of London hit 34.8C on Monday followed by 35.1C on Tuesday. The high was at Kew Gardens, west London.
High of 30C forecast for today so take heed of all the advice on hydrating, covering up and staying out of the midday sun. Top Tips form the Met Office on keeping cool in hot weather.

Up a creek with a paddle(board)
🚣🏼♂️ Paddling equipment is now available to hire on Shoreham seafront, making it easier than ever to get out on the water this summer. 🌊 As part of the Adur & worthing council summer concessions scheme, Yak Shack has installed a smart paddleboard and kayak rental system, designed to be simple, flexible and accessible for everyone. More Info from Yak Shack
Located next to Shoreham Beach Green, the station offers two paddleboards, a single kayak and a double kayak, along with buoyancy aids for every user. Safety equipment must be worn at all times while on the water. Hire starts from just £15 for a one-hour session, with options to book for longer if you’d like to make a day of it. Parking is available nearby at Shoreham Beach Green car park.
Before heading out, you’ll complete a safety briefing via the app, with additional tutorials available for those new to paddling. The system also uses real-time weather monitoring and will pause rentals during unsafe conditions, such as high winds or storms. Book a paddleboard. What an excellent scheme!
