Good morning, Brighton… did someone order sun? We have a 5-day stretch on the cards which is getting us fired up for the weekend. Venues across town have packed schedules in the coming months especially with the festival / fringe inbound so we’ll make sure we collate the hot picks to ensure you don’t miss out.

Let’s get back to it. In today’s Brighton Scoop:

  • Kidical Mass is Back

  • Booth Museum Secures £140k

  • Pod of 20 Dolphins Off Brighton

What’s the Scoop

Kidical Mass is Back

🚴‍♂️ Kidical Mass Brighton & Hove is back on Sunday 26 April 2026 with a huge family-friendly bike ride focused on Hove. Four feeder rides leave at 2:00pm from Hove Park, Wish Park, Hove Cemetery and Stoneham Park, all heading to the Peace Statue on the seafront. By 2:45pm everyone will gather there for a big, stewarded loop through central Brighton & Hove, finishing back at the Peace Statue around 4:00pm. Full Info

The ride is free, open to all ages, and fully safety-stewarded, calling for safer streets where everyone can get around by bike. Kids under 16 need an adult. Grab your flags, bells, costumes etc and have a ball out there. Will be a fun day and hopefully we’ll be down there peddling with everyone else too so keep your eyes peeled.

Booth Museum Secures £140k

🏛️ A favourite with the kids, The Booth Museum of Natural History in Brighton has secured nearly £140,000 from the DCMS/Wolfson Museums and Galleries Improvement Fund for a major refurbishment of its main gallery. Closed since April 2025, the museum will upgrade its entrance to create a more open, welcoming space while keeping its Victorian character and famous bird dioramas.

Restored cases and flooring will echo the original design, and new displays will highlight climate, habitat and biodiversity, using previously unseen specimens such as a golden mole, echidna, toucan, emperor scorpion, snapping turtle and giant African land snail. The Booth Museum is expected to reopen in early 2027. Looking forward to popping back along in the New Year. 🤞

Pod of 20 Dolphins Off Brighton

🐬 Charter Skipper Kurt Lander spotted the pod of large dolphins swimming off of the Brighton Coast, thought to be one of the first sightings sent to the Sussex Dolphin Project this spring. Watch Full Video.

Sussex Dolphin Project is committed to understanding and protecting local dolphin species through research, awareness and education. The project was launched in 2018, as part of the World Cetacean Alliance (WCA), the world’s largest marine conservation partnership, which champions the protection of marine habitats through community engagement. A fab cause for these wonderful mammals. More info on the SDP
