What’s the Scoop

Jenny from the Block Could Be Heading to the Seaside

🎤 Brighton & Hove Pride is reportedly in talks to bring Jennifer Lopez to Preston Park next summer. It would be her first full UK concert in over 15 years, since her 2012 Dance Again tour at London's O2.

A source told The Sun that organisers have approached her team and that "they're just working out schedules". Nothing is confirmed yet.

Lopez headlined WorldPride in Washington DC in 2025 and has called the LGBTQ+ community "a loyal and big part" of her fanbase.

She'd join a glittering Pride roll call that includes Diana Ross, Mariah Carey, Kylie and Britney. The 2027 festival is expected in August, but no acts have been officially announced yet. Fingers crossed, then. Let's get loud on the Brighton seafront!

October Unpacked: Brighton Doesn't Pack It In After Summer

🎭 October Unpacked is back in Brighton & Hove until 31 October 2026, with more than 200 events, offers and activities across the city.

The month-long programme pulls several autumn festivals under one banner, covering food, drink, art, comedy and live performance. Highlights include a Taste Trail with offers at restaurants, bars and pubs. The Brighton Dome Comedy Festival also returns with Komedia, featuring stand-up, live podcasts and workshops. View Full Schedule.

You'll also find supper clubs, markets, film screenings and family events.

Launched by Brighton & Hove Tourism Alliance in 2025, it aims to support local businesses beyond the summer season. Julia Weeks said it's the perfect window for a trip "without the August crowds and cost".

Full listings are at October Unpacked.

Brilliant! Scorchio!

Olé! Hove School Earns Top Spanish Honour

🇪🇸 Bilingual Primary School in Brighton and Hove has been accredited as an International Spanish Academy by the Spanish Ministry of Education. It's one of only two schools in Europe to get the award, which recognises strong bilingual programmes.

Pupils spend half of each day learning in Spanish, and results sit well above the national average. Headteacher Simon King called the honour "a testament to the school's hard work". He said he's excited to collaborate with other schools in the network.

Hove and Portslade MP Peter Kyle said he "couldn't be prouder" and called it "a special moment".

A ceremonial event is due at the Embassy this week. Muy bien, indeed!
