“… so take off all your clothes”; said Nelly in 2002 (watch if you’re that way inclined). And for once I agree with that melodic little rapper from St Louis. I will largely be following his advice BUT not forgetting my SPF50 and a hat for the next few days.

What’s the Scoop
Red heat alert issued for South-East

🥵 Right, things are about to get properly toasty! A red heat health alert covers the South East from this morning at 1am Wednesday 24 June to 11pm Thursday 25 June 2026, with the Met Office adding an amber warning for Brighton & Hove until Friday. Translation: scorching, with crowds inevitably flocking to the seafront.
The vulnerable — older folk, little ones and those with health conditions — are most at risk, so do check on friends and neighbours. A SWEP day shelter (for rough sleepers) opens during the alert offering showers, lunch, cool drinks and rest, while outreach teams hand out water, sun cream and hats.
The drill: drink plenty, dodge midday sun, slip on a t-shirt, slop on sunscreen and slap on a hat (also keep curtains closed, and never leave anyone in a parked car). Swimming? Stick between the red and yellow flags — the sea's chilly and deep, and never after a tipple. Feeling poorly? Cool down, sip water, and call NHS 111, or 999 in an emergency. Stay safe, everyone! 🤙
Water refill stations across the city
🚰 23 degrees already this morning! Before you melt into the pavement, remember the city centre's free water fillers are ready to come to the rescue. Dotted around the busiest spots — think travel hubs and exercise routes — these handy units (fountains included) will keep residents, visitors and even the four-legged crowd happily hydrated.
Just top up your bottle, fill the dog's bowl, and crack on with your day. Bonus: every refill means fewer plastic bottles and less litter cluttering our streets. So stay cool, stay topped up, and let's keep things green while we're at it! what3words locations:

Fatboy Slim signing event in July

🎵 Beach boys, rejoice! Fatboy Slim himself, Norman Cook, is dropping into Brighton's Dukes Lane on Wednesday 22nd July 2026 (5–9pm) for a rather caffeinated signing soirée at The Brighton Box Gallery.
Teaming up with Pepita Coffee and artist Emily Bowyer, they're toasting three limited-edition coffee tins and just 100 A3 prints across five designs. Bag yours, get them autographed, and bask in DJ glory — entry's free! A word to the wise: pre-order at The Bright Box to dodge disappointment. And no, he won't sign your vinyl, your photos, or your old trainers — tins and prints only, please!
