What’s the Scoop

Homegrown Festival back for 2026

🎸 Brighton’s Homegrown Festival returns on Saturday 11 April 2026 after last year’s success. This grassroots, multi-venue music event takes place across nine walkable city venues, including The Hope & Ruin, Green Door Store, Revenge, The Prince Albert, The Rossi Bar, The Folklore Rooms, The Pipeline, Alphabet and Daltons.

The first wave of artists features a mix of established and emerging acts such as The Subways, Dutch Criminal Record, Daniel Wakeford, Hollow Hand, Lily Knott, and more, showcasing Brighton’s diverse music scene. First wave tickets are currently £25, with prices set to rise as more acts are announced. Get Tickets

Sussex & Brighton Move Closer to Devolution

🗺️ Sussex has reached a key milestone in its devolution plans, with the Government laying the Statutory Instrument to formally create the Sussex & Brighton Combined County Authority this spring. Although mayoral elections are delayed until 2028, devolution will continue to progress, led by local councils.

The new authority is set to receive £1.14 billion in long-term investment for local priorities, £30.4 million over the next two years for early programmes, and £9 million over four years to support its setup and operation. Council leaders say this will bring more powers, investment, and a stronger collective voice for Sussex and Brighton. Hopefully this will benefit our local community in time. Watch this space!
