Good morning, Brighton. We have sunnnnnnnn. A taste of spring is in the air, people are smiling and it’s half way to the weekend so lets crack on.

What’s the Scoop
Get to Da Choppa
🚁 The Royal Sussex County Hospital’s new helipad has had its first ever helicopter landings – one at dusk and another after dark – as part of safety tests. Local residents watched (some cheering, which makes a change from complaining about parking).
These were non‑patient test flights to check the pad itself and get sign-off from the Civil Aviation Authority. Next, staff will rehearse transferring “dummy” patients from the helicopter to resus and other critical areas.
Dr Stephanie Tilston said the successful tests are a key milestone, bringing Sussex a step closer to faster treatment for the most seriously ill and injured patients. Great news for people from across Sussex!
Things Heating up at Rockwater
🥵 Rockwater in Hove wants to swap three of its western seafront food-and-drink kiosks for three sauna huts, keeping the same beach-hut style, size and footprint. The saunas, now planned with electric heaters instead of timber-fired ones, would each seat six people, with an access ramp to the western hut.
Planning officers have recommended approval, with councillors due to decide on 4 March. Supporters say the design fits the existing seafront look and reflects Rockwater’s shift from food to “leisure and wellness”. Objectors worry about competition for smaller sauna businesses, overdevelopment and poor consultation, as well as the prom’s already rather shabby condition. Hopefully the demand for saunas is so great in Brighton & Hove that the added saunas will have very little impact on the existing saunas in the area.🤞
