🍦 Four Workmen Watch Digger

Madeira Terrace Renovation Progresses, Brighton Fringe Tickets Fly Out The Door & Hove Beach Park Grand Opening

Good morning, Brighton. It’s looking like a fine Friday to finish the backend of the working week so pop off to work with a spring in your step and smile on your face… because this time next week, if you have kids, you’ll have 9 days straight of them being at home 🤯

In today’s Brighton Scoop:

What’s the Scoop

Madeira Terrace Renovation Progresses

👷🏼‍♂️ Pottering along the seafront this week, it was good to see the renovations moving along nicely opposite Sea Lanes. Although our photo paints the archetypal image of some builders at work, they were slogging away in the heat when we popped down so you can forgive them a break. Keep up the good work team! 👏

Brighton Fringe Tickets Fly Out The Door

🎭 Great to hear the best day of ticket sales since the (dare I say it) p**demic of 2020, happened this week at the Fringe. I’m sure the weather’s helped a treat and everyone seems it such a great mood, it’s a fab time to be down here. Remember to checkout What’s on and buy yourself some tickets. Support the arts.

Hove Beach Park Grand Opening

🏖️ 🛼 Hove Beach Park, the stunning new £13.7 million seafront destination, nears its official opening, much to the local community’s delight. Stretching from the King Alfred Leisure Centre to Hove Lagoon, the park has already attracted thousands of residents and visitors who have checking out the different sections as they were gradually completed. The official opening is scheduled for this Friday, May 16, featuring a ceremony with Councillor Bella Sankey, Leader of Brighton & Hove City Council, who will cut the ribbon to mark the beginning of the park's vibrant future.

To commemorate the opening, the park will host a delightful weekend filled with activities for families to enjoy. On Saturday, May 17, families can participate in an introductory bowls session from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at the bowling green followed by a jam session on the pump track from midday to 4 pm. For those curious about padel, one of the UK's fastest-growing sports, there will be exhibition games and opportunities to chat with coaches.

The celebrations continue on Sunday, May 18, offering a skate jam at the skate plaza from 10 am to 6 pm, and a drop-in croquet session on the croquet lawn between midday and 4 pm. It’s been great to see so many people using the skate park, pump track and roller area since September 2024 when it opened and so we’re hopeful it spurs on other towns to follow in this type of investment in sport and entertainment for kids in their areas.
