What’s the Scoop
Diana Ross to Headline Pride 2026
🎤 Diana Ross has been announced as the Sunday headliner for this years Pride on the Park this summer. The 81-year-old soul legend, known for hits such as Upside Down and Chain Reaction, will top the bill on the 2nd August, with Raye headlining Saturday.
Organisers called Ross’s appearance a “dream come true” as the festival celebrates its 35th anniversary. Pride on the Park takes place on 1st and 2nd August and follows some top notch previous headline performances including Kylie Minogue, Mariah Carey and Britney Spears.
Brighton Half Marathon Weekend (1st March)
🏃🏿♂️ More than 10,000 runners will take part in the Altra Brighton Half Marathon on Sunday, March 1. Actor and singer Olly Alexander will officially start the race and run for Team Beacon, supporting The Sussex Beacon Hospice.
The 13.1-mile seafront course passes major Brighton landmarks and is the city’s biggest annual fundraiser, raising over £1 million for charities each year. The weekend also includes youth races and a wheelchair race, supported by hundreds of volunteers. As a marathoner myself (in a previous life) I’ll be down there shouting at runners (support that is, not general ranting).
Kings Road Arches Development Works
👑 🛣️ Councillors are set to discuss plans to continue major repairs to the Victorian King’s Road arches beneath Brighton’s seafront road to prevent potential collapse. With phases 1–3 complete, phases 4 and 5 would strengthen sections between the bandstand and i360, and west of Shelter Hall. The work is vital to protect a route used daily by thousands of vehicles and cyclists.
Phase 4 would temporarily close the King’s Road paddling pool, allowing plans for a redesigned community facility - a new paddling pool of epic proportions hopefully!! If approved, the £26 million project—mostly government funded—would secure the seafront’s future for the next century and create improved spaces for local businesses. More Info Here
