New Charity Partners Announced by Komedia

šŸŽ Komedia has announced Allsorts Youth Project as its new Charity Partner and BLAGSS (Brighton LGBT Sports Society) as its new Community Partner for Down the Hatch, its monthly queer and alternative comedy night, starting Sunday 1 March 2026.

Allsorts supports LGBTQ+ children and young people under 26 through youth groups, one-to-one support, family services, and community training across Sussex. BLAGSS, with around 470 members, provides inclusive sports and social opportunities for LGBTQ+ people and allies. Last year’s charity, Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus, will remain a Legacy Partner. Winner of Best Comedy Format at the 2024 Chortle Awards, Down the Hatch is hosted by Lee Peart and celebrates queer and alternative comedy in an inclusive, community-focused space. Two fab charities to be partnering with for the coming season. Donations will be taken online and in person at events.

New Seafront Bench Celebrates Teenage Heart Attack Survivor

ā¤ļø A new seafront bench on Madeira Drive honours a Brighton teenager who survived a heart attack at age seven thanks to a teacher recently trained in CPR. Installed by the British Heart Foundation, it is part of a UK-wide campaign celebrating 65 lives changed by BHF-funded research. Public health cabinet member Mitchie Alexander highlighted the importance of CPR training and lifesaving research, calling the bench a tribute to quick action and medical advances. Such a great story with a great outcome. For more info on the British Heart Foundation and if you’d like to make a DONATION… nudge nudge, Visit the BHF.
