What’s the Scoop
Brilliant Brighton Gets Business Backing for £2.6m Investment
👏 Great news for Brighton’s city centre! Businesses have approved a new five-year, £2.6 million investment plan for the Brilliant Brighton Business Improvement District (BID), running from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2031. Following consultation with over 500 businesses, 65.8% voted in favour, representing 72.6% by rateable value.
The renewed BID will fund initiatives that make the city centre safer, more welcoming and vibrant, building on nearly 20 years of achievements such as Christmas lights, events, trails, summer decorations, the Brighton Gift Card, and on-street Ambassadors. The new plan also includes professional services (offices), promoting a more joined-up approach across sectors. A promising 5 years ahead for the city’s businesses.
Brighton Fish Sales Reopened After Refurb & Fleet Expansion
🎣 One of our favourite local spots, the Brighton Fish Sales shop at Hove Lagoon has reopened after a much needed refurb. Looking spick and span, the shop opens at 8am daily (10am Sunday) to get yourself a bit of skate for your mate, mullet for your gullet (Harry Enfield sketch), and support your local fishery.
They’ve also got themselves a new vessel, the Auriga, for shellfish fishing. For more info, take a peek on their website. Happy fishing!
