Anyway, in today’s Brighton Scoop:
Brighton Hits the UK Top Spot for Nostalgia

Brewdog Goes Bye-Bye

What’s the Scoop
Brighton Hits the UK Top Spot for Nostalgia
🏖️ Brighton has been named the UK's most nostalgic seaside town by Buzz Bingo, beating Blackpool to the top spot. The ranking considered factors like amusements, sweet shops, and ice cream parlours, with Brighton boasting 14 amusements, 76 sweet shops, and 83 fish and chip shops, earning a nostalgia score of 81.
Despite Blackpool leading in amusements, it ranked second due to fewer amenities like ice cream shops. Scarborough, with its rich history and charming amenities, ranked third. While Brighton faces a high number of 🐦 seagull mentions, it still remains a beloved destination for nostalgic seaside experiences. Well done Brighton. Who doesn’t like a bit of nostalgia :)
Progress at Preston Park Petanque
🇫🇷 The pétanque court at Preston Park has been revitalised through a collaboration between the council, local residents, Edburton Contractors, and Support at Pride. Upgrades include resurfacing, levelling, and a new fence to prevent damage. During a 'Come and try it' day, 45 residents participated, with 15 joining the local pétanque group. Councillor Alan Robins praised the community and businesses for reviving the court, enhancing its appeal as a park feature. City Parks manager James Harding expressed gratitude for the improvements which can now be enjoyed by all. Potter on down for some petanque.
Brewdog Goes Bye-Bye
🍺 Unfortunately BrewDog is closing its Brighton pub on Grand Parade, along with nine other bars across the UK, as part of a strategic shift. This move will impact about 100 jobs, with closures set for July 26, even before a staff consultation concludes. CEO James Taylor cited the bars' unsustainable sizes and locations as reasons for the closures.
It’s a shame to see any venue shutdown but with a dubious location and challenging market conditions, even its bright yellow paint job couldn’t save the day.
