Good morning, Brighton. Who’s seen Christmas decorations already for sale? What is this ridiculousness? We haven’t even had Halloween yet! Anyway I digress. Grab your coffee, get comfy, and let’s catch you up before the day starts.

What’s the Scoop
Trees, Turquoise and Toddler Play
🌳 Five Brighton and Hove wards have received almost £230,000 from the Better Brighton and Hove Fund. The money comes from developer levies, and councillors chose projects after public suggestions.
Rottingdean and West Saltdean lead the pack with £87,000. That includes £29,000 to repaint the seafront railings turquoise. Wish ward gets £76,000 for new trees, an outdoor gym and a toddler play area. Round Hill and Westbourne and Poets Corner each get £22,000 for trees and gym kit. Woodingdean will spruce up its shops and add a plaque for the world's deepest hand-dug well.
There's £750,000 in total, so more is on the way. 👏
Fatboy Slim Rocks the Seafront for the Seagulls
💽 Brighton's very own Fatboy Slim, is set to play two nights at Quarters on the seafront on October 13 and 14. They'll be his first ever shows at the venue, and all proceeds support the Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation.
Cook became a foundation ambassador in 2024. Since then he's hosted music rounds at charity quizzes, donated auction prizes and played for the Albion Memories dementia group.
Foundation chief executive Joe Jenkins said Cook "will go above and beyond" and that the money will have a "truly enormous impact" across Sussex. Tickets are on the Quarters website.
Brighton Dome Gets Its Glitter On
🏳️🌈 Brighton Dome is handing the spotlight to LGBTQ+ artists this autumn, reinventing cabaret, dance and comedy along the way.
Fatt Butcher turns hymns into a nightclub-style choral service on October 30, with house, trance and gospel. Thick & Tight's Natural Behaviour takes a queer look at what's "natural" on October 13.
The Comedy Festival teams up with Komedia for the first time. Simon Amstell (October 22), Catherine Bohart (October 16) and Dan Tiernan (October 23) all take the stage.
December closes with Brighton's Big Drag Pageant on the 10th. On the 12th, the Brighton Gay Men's Chorus performs a murder mystery told through Christmas classics.
Dinosaurs, Daydreams and a Very Nostalgic Bedroom
🦖 Illustrator Billy Murphy takes over Gallery 40 on Gloucester Road from 10 to 15 November with Dinosaurs and Daydreams Brighton. Entry is free.
The star attraction is a full-scale 90s child's bedroom, stuffed with PlayStations, Lego, dinosaurs and Beanie Babies. Around it are more than 80 works, a new limited edition silkscreen print and plushies hand-sewn by his mum. Murphy says the show's message is that it's "never too late to be silly".
The private view is on Thursday 12 November from 6pm to 8pm, with a Murphy-illustrated beer from Lost Pier Brewing. A free badge-making workshop runs on Saturday 14 November from 12pm to 2pm. Spaces are limited, so book in advance.
