RNLI keeping watch, Brighton Festival Closing Party & New Aldi coming to Hove (almost)

Good morning, Brighton…. the final throws of the Fringe are upon us having said goodbye to the Festival for another year. 5 days left to catch yourself a little performance somewhere.

What’s the Scoop
RNLI Lifeguards Keeping Watch
🛟 RNLI lifeguards have started their lifesaving service on seven beaches in Brighton & Hove from May 24. This marks the charity's first lifeguarding service in the city. Previously, the Brighton & Hove City Council's Seafront Office managed these services. Three additional beaches will receive RNLI coverage starting July 19, with lifeguards on duty daily from 10am to 6pm.
The 10 lifeguard stations between Saltdean and Hove Lagoon will be a fab addition for locals and visitors. For some more advice on keeping safe in the water, take a look at the RNLI Float to Live Campaign.
Brighton Festival Closing Party
🎭 The Official Closing Party, co-curated by Shankar and Shiva Soundsystem founder Nerm, transformed Brighton Dome Corn Exchange into a vibrant celebration. From 9:30pm, it showcased South Asian and global underground talent, attracting a multicultural crowd revelling in genre-defying music, reflecting innovation and cultural fusion during the bank holiday weekend. A fitting end to an awesome month of performances across the city.
New Aldi coming to Hove (almost)
🛒 Plans for a new Aldi supermarket in Hove promise to enhance the old Homebase site on the Old Shoreham Rd with updated doors, windows, and signage, along with improved lorry delivery efficiency. The proposals also seek to upgrade nearby bus stops with shelters and live information screens, reflecting a commitment to community-focused improvements and modern conveniences. Some objections have raised issues with regard to congestion and emissions. The 4th June brings the next meeting in the decision making process from the council. Watch this space.
