Good morning, Brighton. As I’ve written ‘a week of sunshine ahead’ i’ve peered out the window and seen an ominous cloud approach so take note… I’m no meteorologist, don’t use me as your guide for your attire for the week. But let’s hope for sunshine either way. Let’s go.

In today’s Brighton Scoop

  • Wild Park rainwater project in full flow

  • Concorde II 25th anniversary plans unveiled

  • Hedgehogs get safe space

What’s the Scoop

Wild Park Rainwater Project in Full Flow

🌳 In Brighton's Wild Park, nature's superhero— the rainscape—is arriving to save the day! This green giant collects rain, purifies it, and lets it soak in safely. With 800 square metres of reed beds, 45 trees (orchard included), and a sprawling wildflower meadow, it's the city's largest eco-project. Come autumn, it'll curb A27's water pollution, making our community greener and friendlier! 💧🌳 BHCC Rainscape

Corcorde II Anniversary Celebrations

🤘 Once upon a seaside stroll along Madeira Drive in Brighton, there emerged a charming little spot named Concorde 2. It first swung open its doors on a festive New Year's Eve back in 1999, and for nearly a quarter of a century, it has been the stage where stars like Amy Winehouse, Ed Sheeran, and Calvin Harris have played their tunes and won our hearts.

Given a high-five from none other than Foo Fighters' own Dave Grohl, who dubbed it "the perfect venue," Concorde 2 is all set to celebrate its 25th birthday in grand fashion. Get ready for a year filled with special shindigs and a sprinkle of digital delights!

This beloved venue began its journey as a Victorian seafront shelter and once wore the hat of The Waterfront Café before blossoming into the groovy music hub it is today. Cheers to 25 years of musical magic and many more to come! Keep on top of details as they emerge.

Hedgehog Surveys Underway to Ensure Safe Spaces

🦔 The University of Brighton is creating safe havens for hedgehogs as their population declines in the UK. Staff and students are using "tracking tunnels" with ink to log paw prints across campuses, providing insights for conservation.

Led by Izzy White, they're transforming green spaces and eliminating hazards to support local wildlife. The survey results will guide where to concentrate efforts. Meanwhile, the British Hedgehog Preservation Society notes a halved population over a decade.

Homeowners can help by leaving small holes under fences for them to squeeze through and foliage for some shelter or to hide from any predators lurking above 🐦.
